Victory 1989-90

The Restoration of an Iconic Libenský-Brychtová Glass Sculpture

This extraordinary Libenský-Brychtová glass sculpture was envisioned as one of a trio of glass sculptures honoring the Czech “Velvet Revolution” of 1979. Victory 1989-90 is the only sculpture of the original three that still remains available for sale, as the other two are in Museum collections both in Europe and the US.

This beautiful and historical glass sculpture was created from the Libenský’s original design using the famous Libenský-Brychtová kiln glass casting process. Once this massive transparent jade colored glass art piece had cooled to room temperature, the cast version of Victory 1989-90 was then laboriously cut and polished throughout every millimeter to bring all the exterior brilliance as well as the interior inclusions and striations that are inherent in cast glass to their stunning finale.

This important and highly collectable Libenský-Brychtová glass sculpture has been fully restored and permanently fitted to inset into a custom, solid, green, British Columbia jade stone base. The design of the inset allows the piece to be rotated by hand so the viewer can enjoy the many viewing angles inherent in this iconic piece. This breathtaking glass sculpture has four inset roller bearings underneath to facilitate repositioning.
